Fall Injury Attorneys

     Fall injuries plague the work force, especially those working in construction, carpentry and industrial areas; but fall injuries are not limited only to these industries.  Slip and fall or trip and fall injuries can also occur in the home, in supermarkets, convenience stores and around swimming pools. In fact, slip and fall accidents can occur in almost any area of life if one does not take the proper precautions or care. 

      Only an eighth of an inch rise is required to cause a trip and fall, this could be something as unnoticeable as a raised carpet. This simple fact explains why fall accidents are so common and take place so frequently. Simple precautionary measures, though, can significantly decrease this frequency.

    Workplace falls claimed the lives of 133 Massachusetts workers between 1991-1999, accounting for 21% of all fatal occupational injuries during this period. The average annual fall fatality rate was 0.5 per 100,000 workers, similar to the 1999 fall fatality rate of 0.5 per 100,000 workers for the nation. Fatal workplace falls in Massachusetts occurred in a wide range of circumstances. The great majority (118 fatalities, 89%) were falls to lower levels. Falls from roofs (26), ladders (21), and scaffolds and staging (18) were the most common.  Of course, fatalities are not the most common end result of falling cases, although special focus will be placed on them in this section due to the gravity of the end result versus the ease of prevention.
